Microboards Technology Announces 8X CD-R Capability for Cedar Desktop Publisher

Minneapolis, MN, Jan. 11, 1999 — Microboards Technology, Inc. (MTI) has announced 8X CD-R drive enhancements for Cedar Technologies' Desktop CD-R publisher. MTI is master distributor for the Cedar CD-R publisher product-line.

Priced at $7995.00 (MSRP). The package includes: two 8X recorders, a Color CD Printer, the Cedar Autoloader, Cedar CD Face label editing software, pre-mastering and robotics software for Windows 95, dedicated duplication software, printer alignment posters, power cable, printer control cable and a userís guide. The Cedar prints full-color, high-resolution text, graphics, logos and photographs directly onto printable-surface 8X CD-R media. The four-drive configuration will be available for 8X recording before the end of the first quarter.

According to Chucky Alcon, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Microboards Technology, "With the 8X speed and relatively low overall unit price, the CD-R Publisher is attractive to any business that requires high speed publishing and duplication on demand. Another advantage the software provides is disc-to-disc recording without any hardware buffering ñ which eliminates the need for a cache."

"The price and functionality of the Desktop CD-R Publisher also make it accessible and attractive to a wide range of users," said Mitch Ackmann, executive vice president of Microboards Technology. "Pre-press, graphic arts, education, audio government agencies or almost anyone that needs to distribute multiple CD-Rs internally or externally will find the new 8X capability valuable and cost-effective."

The Desktop CD-R Publisher's multiformat premastering and duplication software has an intuitive interface and advanced copying and audio features, fast HFS formatting and simultaneous recording capabilities.
