The media will be used to service the growing use of optical media in the medical market for imaging and storage.
The CD-R Media is manufactured by Taiyo Yuden, the inventor of the CD Recordable disc. Taiyo Yuden has widespread market recognition for manufacturing CD Recordable media that supports the highest recording speeds and the greatest level of cross-compatibility between CD recorders and CD/DVD readers. Microboards is the master distributor of Taiyo Yuden in the United States.
"We hope that the FDA's approval of the media will build confidence in the use of CD-R and DVD-R technology for medical imaging." said Mitch Ackmann, President and COO of Microboards Technology. "Optical technology offers data integrity and archival features beyond the more traditional mediums; the lower cost of storage, longevity of data, and cross compability/interchangability will take medical imaging to another level technologically."
