DSR-Series CD-R Duplicator Now Has 8X Capability

Minneapolis, Minn. (AP) — Microboards Technology, Inc. announced a new 8X Tower CD-R duplicator with four 8X CD-Recorders and one 32 X CD-ROM reader for only $6495. Microboards Technology, Inc. (MTI), master distributor for the manufacturer, Hoei Sangyo, said the new duplicator will be available for shipping from MTI's U.S. headquarters in January.

The new DSR8880, will support four 8X CD-Recorders in one unit and before the end of the first quarter 1999, the master unit will expand to eight 8X recorders.

When functioning in a master/slave mode, the DSR8880 can be configured with up to three additional four-drive 8X CD-Recorder slave units for a total of 16 8X recorders duplicating simultaneously. "The slave units are priced at $4995 each," said President Mitchell Ackmann.  "Very affordable.  Very nice."

Microboards also announced a major price reduction for the DSR8800, Hoei Sangyo's popular 4X eight-bay CD-R duplicator. The price has been dropped from $7995 to $5995 for the seven-CD-Recorder and one CD-Reader master unit and $4495 for each seven-CD-Recorder slave unit.

"Businesses and service bureaus have been demanding a heavy duty, high-speed CD-R replication system since duplicators were first introduced. With its production-quality construction and low cost the DSR8880 delivers an affordable solution to any business that needs multiple CD-Rs on demand," according to Mitch Ackmann executive president of MTI.

The Direct SCSI interface, which records directly from a PC to the "target" writers in the DSR series duplicators, eliminates the cost of a separate external CD-recorder.

The versatile master/slave design makes expandability simple -- allowing each master to direct as many as 16 recorders simultaneously. For high volume requirements, ten masters can be daisy-chained together for a total of 160 copies -- all at the touch of one button.
