Microboards, HP Integrate Robotics with PhotoSmart Express Station

Chanhassen, MN, February 27, 2006 — Microboards today announced its on-board disc recording and dispensing capabilities will be integrated into the HP Photosmart Express station -- the first true standalone, self-serve photo kiosk dedicated to producing 4x6-inch prints quickly. With Microboards’ disc recorders, the HP Photosmart Express station allows users to transfer their photos from a digital memory card to a CD at the push of a button.

Microboards' unique gravity-enabled delivery process automatically retrieves a single disc from the supply stored within the HP Photosmart Express station. It then feeds the disc to the burner which records the images selected by the customer. Once the recording is complete, the system places the disc into the external compartment for customer retrieval.

"Our approach to handling optical media has lent itself well to the retail environment," says Mitch Ackmann, Microboards President and COO. "We’re pleased to be working with HP to incorporate our solution into their new photo kiosks.”

The kiosk endeavor is not the first collaboration between the two companies. Microboards and HP have produced three very successful disc printers and publishers that are used by small- to mid-range content producers to publish hundreds and thousands of discs quickly and at a low cost-per-disc.

The HP Photosmart Express station, featuring Microboards disc recorders and dispensers, is being shown at the Photo Marketing Association (PMA) show in Orlando, FL in Microboards booth #1990 and HP booth #4133.
